Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to all people, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. Electricity is an essential service, and access to information about it should not depend on how someone reads a screen.

We work continuously to improve the accessibility and usability of the site, and to keep it compatible with current assistive technologies and standards.

This website aims to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the internationally recognised accessibility standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Level AA is the level most commonly adopted by government and public-service organisations. It covers colour contrast, keyboard operability, text resizing, and compatibility with screen readers.

Text size

Controls at the top of every page adjust the text size across the whole site:

• −A — decrease the text size.
• A — reset to the default size.
• A+ — increase the text size, recommended for low-vision users.

Dark mode and light mode

The moon and sun icons in the top bar switch between dark and light themes. Dark mode reduces eye strain in low light. Your choice is remembered on your next visit.

Screen reader support

This site is built to work with the commonly used screen readers:

• NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) — free and open source, for Windows
• JAWS (Job Access With Speech) — commercial, for Windows
• VoiceOver — built into macOS and iOS
• TalkBack — built into Android

Keyboard navigation

The entire website can be operated without a mouse:

• Tab / Shift+Tab — move to the next or previous interactive element.
• Enter or Space — activate a button, or expand a section.
• Esc — close a pop-up or dialog.
• ← → — move within menus and carousels.

Skip to main content

A Skip To Main Content link appears at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can jump straight past the navigation.

Language

Content is available in English, Hindi and Gujarati through the translation selector in the header.

Colour contrast

• Body text — minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1
• Large text (18pt and above) — minimum 3:1
• Interface components and graphics — minimum 3:1

Typography

• Clear sans-serif typefaces throughout
• Line spacing of at least 1.5× the font size
• Letter spacing tuned for easier reading, including for dyslexic readers

Touch targets

• Interactive elements are at least 44×44 pixels
• Adequate spacing between controls to avoid mis-taps

Images and multimedia

• Images carry descriptive alternative text
• Decorative images are hidden from screen readers
• Videos include captions and transcripts where available

Forms

• Every field has an associated, programmatically linked label
• Validation errors are announced, not shown by colour alone

We would rather tell you what does not work yet than claim the site is perfect. We are aware of the following:

• External portals. Some linked services, such as e-Vidyut Seva, are operated outside MGVCL and follow their own accessibility practices.
• Older PDF documents. Some archived PDFs are not fully tagged for screen readers. We are remediating these progressively.
• Embedded video. Captions are being added to older videos.

Documents in another format

If you need a document in large print, Braille, audio or plain text, ask us and we will provide it within 5 working days.
